Disappointed with item quality

I usually don’t take the time to write reviews. However, I felt compelled to write one on this item. Quick background – I purchased this item on April 3, 2011 today is July 31, 2011. This item was installed on my Toyota Tacoma truck approximately a week or so after received. This item was very colorful when received, deep red socks and a nice dark blue background as the picture depicts.
Fast forward 3 months later – the red socks have faded so badly they are almost white, the blue background is all but faded out as well. I wrote to Amazon and they offered a 25% discount or to allow me to return the item. They stated they could not replace the item because it was from one of their marketplace sellers. Since Amazon has charged me for return shipping in the past (deducted from sale price for the return credit) even when the item was defective I decided not to return the item, but take the discount reduction. I was not happy with either of the two options they provided. Afterall, it would have cost me about $6.00 to return it and that was about the discount Amazon offered. I am not bashing Amazon here at all, but just stating my experience with this purchase.
I would strongly suggest that you avoid this item unless you have some application for its use indoors, otherwise it’s a complete waste of money. I would estimate in another 3 months this item will look like a white background hitch cover with no resemblance of its original color and design.

I’ve had this hitch cover for about six months now, and it still looks fairly new. Its made very well and is pretty solid and sturdy. Its not made from cheap material that would fall apart easily. I have no complaints about this product at all. I’m very satisfied…
